do you think they would have made the playoffs if they didn't end up being a lotto team and gotten D wade?

Im going to have go with the Celtics getting the better end. Remember, Payton was a top 5 PG not more than 2 years ago. He was under utililized in that triangle offense. I forsee a rebirth of sorts for him in Boston
Payton 15ppg 5rpg 8apg 2spg
with Davis and Pierce in the mix Boston could make a decent move in the East.
Just my 2 cents.

Knicks I don't doubt that the celtics will be much improved, I think they're actually the early season favorite for the 4th seed in the east. But they'd stuggle to make the playoffs in the west.

bad, bad, bad trade for the lakers
although i tell every1 that payton sucks and is washed up, he really could have thrived if he didnt have to play in the triangle offense. The lakers should've gave him a chance.
As someone of the ESPN boards said, "Chris Mihm is the 2nd coming of Travis Knight" and i dont see banks hanging tough with the point guards in the west.
We'll see if payton has gas left in him when he'll get to play in the east again.
The only good thing the lakers did here is get rid of rick fox.

I think it will work both ways. Banks is a very good defensive PG, I think he will survive. Because there is Kobe still there to take the pressure off of him, and Odom. And Mihm, will be alright. He's not the best center, but a decent one. These are one of those trades that you will just have to wait and see on....

I don't understand this trade for either team. LA gets some younger players but they trade away GP who could have a nice year to redeem himself. They already have Vlade who is old and GP would be able to help more now. Boston isn't going anywhere and they get some old guys with this trade. They get a draft pick but I'm not sure how much that will help.

I like the trade for boston. Its always good to have some old heads around, and if one of them is Gary Payton then thats even better. Fox is also very experianced, and might not be the best player but would have a lot to pass on to other guys.

i really liked that the lakers got rid of rick fox but to sacrafice a pick and gp wasnt worth it. maybe mihm and banks will blossom into stars but i dunt think so.
