the deal is reportedly Mutombo for Adrian Griffen, Erik P, and Mike Wilks. Houston would get a good backup center but they really never gave a very good shooter (Erik P) a chance to do anything for that franchise.

Not too bad. Mutumbo isn't too bad now. He can still play, A LITTLE. They are gonna beed a back-up for Yao because he is SO out of shape. And this should help, but not fix the loss of Kato..

yes i agree.
but boy hasnt deke's stock plummeted the past few years? i remember when he was the 2nd best player on philly in that blockbuster trade, then they traded him for van horn and mccullough, and then he signed with new york as a free agent for like 30 million bucks less after the nets refused to pay him that much.
He's still a good defensive player, just not "Defensive Player of the Year" calliber anymore.

And he still does that nasty looking hook thingy he does...

Mutumbo a "great" center is an overstatement. He can be decent in the right role, and i think Houston is a good place for him.

yeah, 10-15 minutes could be huge for the rockets, especially with no cato now. Deke could easily get 20 a game if he stays healthy

yeah, he used to be but hasn't been healthy for a few seasons. He may not be dominate but I think he'll definetly make a contribution
