Ronny Turiaf a second round pick by the Lakers this past yr has to have open-heart surgery to work on an enlarged heart. This surgery has a good chance of being career ending.
It's tough, a rookie fighting for PT, and now he may never play again.

Also, the he wont get his 2nd round pick salary.
Although the Lakers generously offered to cover his medical bills, which wont be any small thing for open heart surgery.

Lakers are keeping the rights to him though so they will be able to sign him to a 2 year deal once he returns. This is basically like he is "going to europe" to play and when he comes back they still have his rights. By them paying his bills they really made a nice gesture. I really feel bad for the guy, he worked his ass off at Gonzaga always playing 110% and that earned him a spot in the NBA. He worked hard in the summer leagues, ending up as the lakers best scorer. And now this blow.

From what I heard on ESPN he just signed a guarenteed 2 year deal.
Is that deal void now for some reason?
