Apparently the Suns and Hawks are close to finishing up a Joe Johnson Sign and trade deal. The Suns would deal JJ to Atlanta for G/F Boris Diaw, 2 lotto protected firsts, and a 5mill trade exception.
Pretty fair. Diaw is a decent defender off the bench and has good height. Two firsts could be a pretty good trade chip for a decent C unless they think KT and Amare can hold up PF/C which imo I dunno. The 5 mill exception is also good trade bait. JJ though, is not worth the 5 yr 70mill contract that he'll be receiving. Add in the fact that Atlanta already has Childress, Smith, Al, MWill at SG/SF position JJ wasnt really needed unless they use him at PG or deal Childress for a PG or C.

The Suns have been making bad moves all summer...this doesn't surprise me at all. The only good ones were ditching Richardson and Voskuhl.

He epitmomized the Suns' weaknesses, it's one of the better moves they could've made.

Yes, they could've gotten more. But they accomplished their goal of shipping him for some inside toughness..so it's a good move.

he led the league in 3 pointers made last year, he was a perfect option for Nash to drive-and-kick to. Without him they lose a huge part of their offense.

This I just read yesterday...
NBA commissioner David Stern submitted an affidavit Thursday supporting the efforts by the majority of the Atlanta Hawks owners to remove Steve Belkin as the team's NBA governor.
Expect Belkin to be removed as the governor, which should clear the way for the Joe Johnson deal to be finalized tomorrow. If the judge overrules the rest of the owners again tomorrow and allows Belkin to remain governor, the Hawks might as well fold up shop and prepare to be contracted one day, as Belkin reportedly does not want to put any money into the team.

Joe Johnson is finally, officially, an Atlanta Hawk.
Not sure if this was smart by the Hawks, but maybe the Suns will get Michael Finley and trading Joe Johnson may not even matter for the Suns.

they could probably get finley for a lot cheaper too. Great point, completely agreed. Not to say Johnson is no good, but maybe it'd help having Nash and Finley together and the fact that Finley is the consummate pro. Not once have you heard Finley speak out negatively about anything in his career as opposed to a guy like Sam Cassell or any number of players. Johnson was ok last year, but it was obvious he wanted to make more money, but wouldn't Finley basically be at least nearly as good as Johnson was last season? And like the Sonics GM says, at a fraction of the cost of Johnson? If I'm the Suns, I'd go full court press after Finley, especially after Finley's agent publicly said that Finley would prefer to sign with a team that had a chance to win a championship.

Although it's not certain, I've heard that Finley's last two options are Detroit and Miami.
