Yeah, the site I saw compared him to a character from the natural. He needs to gain command, though.

102 in life time? people has done it
wagner, randy johnson, brown (before he got injured 4 years ago), YOUNG Pedro, YOUNG Embree, YOUNG Timlin, i mean i can go on and on and on.
there are a shit load that can throw around there but why would you? the faster you throw the more tired your arm gets, they ease back and throw at the pace they have to complete what they're suppose to.
and you fools! dont be dissin my hometown team! Cincinnati Reds will be good again! its only been a few years since they won their last world series! we have the best farm system in the majors BY FAR with the bats and lookouts! i know they'll get back up with Claussen, Acevedo, Hall gettin better!

can you name 1 player in football that can throw the ball 100 yards (300ft) with accuracy? I dont think it exists. Baseball.....Vlad can throw 400FT (around 150yd)....Jose Guillen can do alil less but still throw it around there, andre jones....now he has a cannon for an arm....i can go on and on with these players! its obvious that baseball's easier to throw then football! its smaller and more dense and stuff 400? I doubt that, that's like center field in most parks to home plate. Maybe with a huge roll it would get there. I've seen him throw it from straight down the line to past home once, but that's maybe 340-350 max.

thats cuase the fastest way to get there is in a lower angle, if you get a bigger angle and throw it with more arc, i think vlad can get it from say Turner Field's centerfield wall to the catcher

I don't know, he might be able to. Yeah, when you're making a throw, you want to get it there as fast as possible, doesn't matter how long it's in the air.
BTW, the coach of my baseball told me that he was at Fenway Park a few years back, and he saw Pedro (pre arm trouble) warming up on the field. They were doing longtoss, and Pedro ended up in very deep CF while the C was at home plate. That's quite the throw.

The Phils just drafted a nice future CF 5 Tool player in Greg Golson. Vlad has been getting less steals lately because of his back problems, but he still can steal a base. He nearly had 40-40 2 seasons back. Oh, and that game did not overrate the AL MVP. Beltran only had about 12 more steals than Vlad. yeah, but beltran was caught 3 times in 45 tries and has been caught 23 times in his career. Vlad was caught 3 times in 18 tries last year, and has been caught 74 times in his career.

The greatest reliably recorded speed at which a baseball has been pitched is 100.9 mph by Lynn Nolan Ryan (California Angels) at Anaheim Stadium in California on August 20, 1974. I'm not sure how reliable this source is...but its supposedly a guiness world record www.baseball-almanac.com/recbooks/rb_guin.shtml
