I went to Questacon with my gf today. Anyway, they have this speed camera thing set up, where you can throw a tennis ball at it and see how fast you threw it.
So being the egoistic male that I am, I naturally decided to have a go.
I remember Kings GM telling me that he pitched for his university, and that he averages 70 mph. Or was it 90 mph, something like that.
So naturally, I thought I could at least do 60.
Lo and behold, try as I might, my record was 46 mph.
Yes, that's right, a miserable 46 mph.
I was like "WTF?"
I nearly tripped myself over on one attempt, because I was so determined to throw the ball as hard as I could.
Even a kid, who couldn't have been more than 12 years old, did 45 mph. Or so she claimed. Yes, SHE.
So sadly, my conclusion was: I suck.
But bruised ego aside, I survived the whole thing, and my gf thought it was funny.

Maybe you have terrible form?
Oh, and I doubt that the girl did 45. Most people on my team last year threw low 50s (the ones that weren't pitchers)

I remember I did that a loooong time ago, I was around 14 or maybe 15 and I got 48 on the best one...around 46 average. I beleive I could throw at least 60 right now, but I've never had the best arm in the world. Maybe the fact that it was a tennis ball made it go slower. Take care of that ego

yeah man....i play baseball and for acuracy we use tenis balls they go no where near as fast as a baseball....they are about 30 to 37 MPH less then a baseball so you prolly could throw about 70 MPH cuz a tenis ball is light where as the had more weight which gives it more velocity...so yeah u shouldnt be ashamed to throw a tenis ball that soft....but if its a baseball that your threw...you should be ashamed

dude how do you throw a tennis ball that fast?! that thing's so fluffy and you cant really get a good grip on it. and you think its that easy to throw a baseball? HA! ive been playin that thing for AAAAGESSSS haha and its 90mph and as far as i know, my record's 94mph but before you start throwin the ball hard as hell, watch for shoulder strains, thats how you get a severe one;)

Well, it's sort of like a modified tennis ball.
It looks like a tennis ball. However, they've done something to it. They made it bigger for better grip.
It's still softer and lighter than a baseball though.
I was flinging my arms as fast as I could, although I probably should have taken it easy. Instead of trying hell bent to break the 80 kmp barrier.
Yeah, it was actually measured in kmp, and the fastest I could throw it was 75 kmp, which works out to be about 46 mph.
But yeah, I always thought that pitching a baseball can't be that hard. Now I am suitably educated.

Oh, there's this really cool machine on exhibit too.
You sort of like put a helmet thing on, and try to draw images on the computer screen just by thinking.
I thought it was my chance to prove once and for all that I am a gifted person. But to my disappointment, all I could produce on the screen was random blotches of colour here and there.

haha how to pitch a baseball instructions! and dont move your legs around, keep a steady leg action like for example if your right handed , dig your right kleets into the ground next to the rubber (pitchin rubber) and make a stride (should be around your arm length) and just pull alll your weight on your back leg and just lift off! oh and try what clemens does, put the glove where your going to aim the ball, it works control wise. if you do the lil herky jerky thing you'll juss get a lil flare girls throw from SS to 1B haha! what did i miss

I can't throw a baseball to save my life. Give me a football. I can probably throw it just as far as I could throw a baseball (exageration of course) I threw a football 65 yards standing, 2 years ago. Probably less than that now, as I have't throw in a long while.
