Still mulling it over, but I'm leaning towards "Hereditary" being one of the greatest horror films ever made. Definitely my #1 of 2018 thus far.

"Us" was sensational. Maybe better than "Get Out". Already want to see it again.

I've heard it was overrated.

I've heard it was overrated. I mean, to each their own. But if you like movies that have a lot of meanings and that make you think, this is right up your alley

"Us" was sensational. Maybe better than "Get Out". Already want to see it again. Have to disagree with this. Get Out’s allegory for modern day racism was genius. And I feel it’s a movie that’ll be referenced for years to come (the sunken place, creepy cereal eating habits, etc) Us was a fine throwaway thriller with some great imagery but it’s final twist was beyond obvious which cheapened the movie because it spent most of the run time building toward it. It basically felt like a movie M. Night Shyamalan would have made post Sixth Sense.

Just finished Spiderverse. Really good movie. Hands down the best movie of last year, maybe the best animated movie of all time.

But I found "Us" to be more ambitious and sprawling. Unlike "Get Out", not everything is neatly tied together at the end. The themes in "Us" kept me thinking long after the credits rolled. I just feel thematically there's a lot to unpack.

Avengers: Endgame
Grade: Perfect
Don’t worry there will be NO SPOILERS in this review.
This was really the perfect bookend to an 11 year and 21 movie event that is one of the great, if not greatest, achievements in entertainment history.
Expect plenty emotion as relationships built across 21 films are paid off. And while fan service might be thrown around, it’s very much feels earned here.
Expect plenty of comedy, the same great quips and perfectly timed moments of levity that you’ve come to expect in an MCU film.
Expect epic action. Not as much action as Infinity War, as this is a more introspective movie, but still plenty of jaw dropping set pieces.
And expect the unexpected. This movie works because it subverts your expectations at unexpected times and transcends the tropes of most comic book movies.
But the greatest accomplishment of this movie is that, after seeing it, I couldn’t imagine finishing this era any other way. This isn’t the perfect ending, it’s the only ending.

I'd push back on some of what you wrote here. Not sure if it's the comic book guy in me or something else . it's a very good movie, but I dont know if it's perfect.

They really could have justified splitting this into two movies. Also, am I the only one that thought the plot basically stole a ton from "Back to the Future 2"? Lol. The Sports Almanac = The Stones, Doc = Tony Stark, Marty = Spider-man, Biff = Thanos *end spoilers* I thought it was good overall, and the ending was fine, but that middle was messy. Too congested. I still think 'Infinity War' was the best of the series. Although, I may change my mind. Who knows?

I think the resolution was a cop out.
it should have been a trilogy, but theres a timeline that Disney is beholden to so "phase 3" needs to be wrapped up this year so they can start fresh in 2020.
I liked the ending(s). They were fitting without being too spoilery.

Just watched Burning (Korean Movie) on Netflix last night. I'll admit the first 2/3 of the movie almost had me turning the movie off as it seemed like it was going nowhere but it picks up in the last 1/3 of the film and after finishing the movie I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Might be one of my favorite movies that I've seen over the past year. The experience, for me, feels a lot like Arrival (2016), in that it's a very slow burn (although Arrival isn't nearly as slow) but it gives you so many themes and theories to chew on after the credits roll that it's almost a movie that gets better with each viewing.
Anyone else watch this movie?

Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus movie on Netflix was pretty funny. Been a Jhonen Vasquez fan since JTHM and Squee comics, so glad to see him bring Invader Zim back. If you enjoy sci-fi animation with random humor, you should check it out.
