So if the Nats do not sign him i think they should be contracted as a MLB team. I live right outside DC, and I swear to god i will never spend a penny on this team if they dont pony up and pay the kid. The tickets to the games are overpriced for as shity as a team they are and if Strasburg is not in D.C. the nats have no bussines being a baseball team.
Give the kid 20 million signing bonus and start selling his jersey to make up the money.
They have untill Midnight to sign him or this will be the 2nd year in a row the Nats failed to sign their 1st round pick.

And statements like this are why baseball has gone off the deep end with salaries. The Nationals already offered the most ever signing bonus that beat Mark Prior's record of a signing bonus. If the kid didn't have a jackass agent, than a deal would have been signed. I don't see how playing oversees or in an international league is going to help him out, what if he gets injured, just a dumb idea.

I just wish the damn Nats would had taken the kid from UNC, so the M's could had grabbed him. We need to find a solid number two guy in the rotation. We have Felix Hernendaz, and a bunch of 5th starters surrounding him.
I hear great things about the kid from UNC, i just know our biggest weakness is pitching. Plus Safeco is a place where a good fastball pitcher can get 15 - 20 wins.

As for the signing bonus, Strasburg is the biggest hyped prospect since Prior, but baseball revenues have doubled since Prior got his signing bonus - so realistically Strasburg can ask for double of what Prior got. You've got to spend money to make money. Maybe if the Nats wouldn't have given Adam Dunn 20 mil they could afford Strasburg? I'm sure the people of Washington would rather have a young ace pitcher than a 30 year old that is going to strike out 200 times a year on a bad team.

The Nats havent had any one worth coming to the park to see since they let Soriono walk for nothing. How do they expect us to spend money on tickets and buy into the team if they arent trying to win or show promise in the future.

Boston09 is obviously the owner of the MLB Washington Nationals. Didn't sign the pick last year and now they are about to let Strasburg walk. This is horrible.

Yeah, Dunn K's way too much, but he is really having a solid season this year. No doubt about it, Dunn is a good player - I'd LOVE to have him on the Giants. But he isn't what the Nationals needed to be spending money on, they need to be cultivating young talent and paying their draft picks.

I was pretty shocked Dunn hasnt been traded yet. Dunn is good but never has players on base to drive in. No real reason he should be on this team.
last ive heard is the nats offer is up to 17mill... i dont see how a kid can turn down that type of coin. If the Nats dont sign Strasbrugh we would get the #2 overall pick in next years draft. On top of what would be the #1 pick bc of bad record. If hes unsignd the Nats would have the #1 and 2 overall picks in the draft next season.

Its not the kid, do you really think these kids care about a couple of million when they are this young, they just want to play and those millions are plenty good enough before ever even pitching for an organization. Its the damn agents that make these long stretched out holdouts for players. Same thing happening with Crabtree for the niners. About the only thing I do like about the NBA is the rookie structure they have.
You should have to earn that big pay check before getting it. Bullshit to sign rookies for that much money and they haven't even won a game or done anything for the team.
