Oppenheimer was amazing. Just a technical feet of a movie. I wouldn't be shocked to see all three of Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., and Emily Blunt win an Oscar for their performances. Just a fantastic movie. Little long for sure and one major complaint derails it from being among my favorite of Nolan's movies(Memento, Interstellar, The Dark Knight are perfection IMO) but its certainly one of my favorites on the year so far.

Flawed, but Flash was enjoyable enough for the nostalgia and references. Way too much CGI though. Don't remember liking the story as much as the animated movie Flashpoint Paradox. Might have to rewatch the latter.

Watched a bunch of movies lately
The Flash(2023) Good time, solid and emotional story that I think hit the beats of Flashpoint pretty well without allowing it to be as sprawling as it should be. Ezra Miller is such a talented actor and does a great job with uber emotional and heavy material, but they just doesn't feel right as Barry Allen. I don't know if its the real life stuff that prevents me from really feeling it from them or if its the way the character is written to be way to awkward. Either way, story is a major plus for the movie but the awful, overuse of CGI really brings it down. Enjoyed it, likely won't watch it again anytime soon if ever. 7/10
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts(2023) Very similar thing to Flash but slightly worse storytelling and slightly better CGI. I went into it expecting to really hate it but it kept me entertained and (mostly) invested in the plot. Its a very Transformers-esque story where they have to find the thing to prevent the thing that every single one of the movies has revolved around. End teases are hype, hope they get paid off. Overall, decent movie but once again not likely to rewatch. 6.5/10
The Blackening(2023) Been waiting for this movie to hit streaming after I missed it in the theaters. I'm a huge fan of movies taking horror movie tropes and making fun of them. Cabin in the Woods is one of my favorite movies and this felt like a combination of Cabin in the Woods and Jumanji. If you've seen the trailer and thought it looked awful, you are not alone but luckily they didn't show any of the best bits in the trailer. There isn't anything super special or unique about the movie but it constantly kept me laughing and interested in where the story was going to land. Good, comedic performances and some fun twists. 7/10
Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse(2023) All I can really say about this movie is that it blew every single expectation out of the water. I wanted to watch it a second(and third and fourth) time before making this statement and I am finally ready to say it: As a Spiderman superfan, I've been waiting for a movie to top Spiderman 2 as the best Spiderman movie ever and while Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home came close, specific flaws that held it back from the perfection of Spiderman 2. Finally though, its been done in my opinion. This movie has heart, actoin, humor, gorgeous animation and most of all fully understands Spiderman in a way that hasn't been fully realized on screen since Spiderman 2 and even then I think that characterization is done better here. This movie has everything but most of all the villain is fucking perfection. If you haven't watched it, do it ASAP. 10/10
Oppenheimer(2023) I will eat anything up that Christopher Nolan puts out, execpt Tenet fuck that piece of shit. I also think Robert J Oppenheimer is a fascinating historical figure that I've read about a bunch previously, so I was excited for this movie. And it lived up to every expectation I had. Its crazy to me that Nolan made a 3 hour, biopic that is mostly talk and no actoin into one of the most engrossing movies I've seen in recent memory. The performances, my God the performances, everyone is perfection in this movie. I hope Cillian Murphy wins an Oscar but Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, and Matt Damon are awesome and there are a ton of other big name actors playing bit parts that do great work as well. Great movie, one minor complaint that I can't shake but nearly flawless movie. 9.5/10
Barbie(2023) Barbenheimer was such a cool, fun cultural thing that elevated both movies to the stratosphere. What I didn't expect was for Barbie to be my favorite of the two. I love Greta Gerwig too so I was expecting a great movie. What I wasn't expecting was an absolutely ethereal experience. The cast, in its entirety, kill every single scene. Set designs are beautiful. The movie is hilarious. And don't let certain segments about the population tell you differently, its an extremely feminist movie that does it without hating on men. I had such a good time with this movie. I want to watch it a million times. 10/10

Agree about Ezra. Good actor, enjoyed him in Perks of Being a Wallflower, and not bad as Barry Allen, but something just feels off. Don't know if it's writing, acting, his look, or a combination. Wonder if part of the problem might be that he never really had an origin movie where you can get attached to him as Barry Allen. He just got dropped into Justice League and whatever other movies as a side character, and then this. I think this would have probably been better as Flash 2.

They(Ezra is non-binary, prefers pronouns of they/them/its/ze, not to call you out just to explain my pronoun choice haha) were prolly my favorite part of Justice League and even then I thought something was off. The slow-mo Flash v Superman fight where Clark moves fast enough to hit Barry and Barry reacts was really well done. There is a solid comedic talent and the acting talent lent itself well to the dramatic moments, like you said something is just off. Hard to tell. Ezra has had three different directions asking for three different things too IMO, between Snyder, Whedon, and Muschietti. I agree the lack of origin story and seeing Barry come into his powers would have helped. But I do think, for me at least, this character being a truly good natured, good intentioned person played by someone who has publicly acted the way Ezra has.

Watched Clerks III tonight. Man. Is like 4/5ths of a good movie. Hate the ending. Put me in a bad fucking mood. Hate these legacy sequels that shit on the progress of the previous movies and make everyone all sad and depressed.
