The Republicans were the one pushing for the deal. The Democrats, who want to protect the lower class, are the ones against it. They're also the ones that control the House. The important thing is the plan failed when it shouldn't but the 228 votes against the plan included 95 Democrats and 133 Republicans so it's mostly the republicans who failed the plan. Still the big problem is the House members face the voters in five weeks and decided to go the voters way regardless what their party leaders told them. Of course this plan isn't perfect, far from it, but the big screw up was made years ago and now a not so bad solution might be the best there is. Until I hear a better alternative, I think it should have been approved.

The important thing is the plan failed when it shouldn't but according to what I read, the 228 votes against the plan included 95 Democrats and 133 Republicans so it's mostly the republicans who failed the plan. Still the big problem is the House members face the voters in five weeks and decided to go the voters way regardless what their party leaders told them. Swing District Congressmen Doomed Bailout This was predictable, I suppose, but it's remarkable to see how strong a relationship there is between today's failed vote on the bailout and the competitive nature of different House races. Among 38 incumbent congressmen in races rated as "toss-up" or "lean" by Swing State Project, just 8 voted for the bailout as opposed to 30 against: a batting average of .211. By comparison, the vote among congressmen who don't have as much to worry about was essentially even: 197 for, 198 against. A complete breakdown follows below the fold. She did fine, like I expected, but the bottom line is that she wasn't even close to Biden's experience, and he did alot better than I expected. He knew more about McCain's accomplishments than she did. But she is really beautiful, and that wink was hot! But this debate was what I expected it to be. It's no game changer, and Palin did not reassure anyone that she is competent to be 2nd in command in this country.

I received my absentee ballot in the mail today. I wanted to vote for Ron Paul. The Libertarian party propped up a phony and the Constitution party's website is littered with more bible versus than quotes from the Constitution. I can't vote for any of them. This last month the Mccain camp has pretty much forced me to vote for Obama. The way they pander to the stupid and ignorant is disgusting. These two videos www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjxzmaXAg9E and www.youtube.com/watch?v=itEucdhf4Us were all I needed to see. Only a complete trouncing by Obama will give the heads up to Republican leaders that their party needs to change. Drop the religous right, drop the war mongering, drop the mock moral outrage and for a change actually follow your own promises when it comes to spending and limited government. How is it that our president mocked the Constitution left and right and not a single Republican ever called him out on it? Maybe an ass kicking will help the party go back to serving its original purpose.

The debates have been interesting, and Obama has proven to be the most presidential of the two. I believe McCain might would of still be in this if he would of rejected the Failout, but he didn't and now he has no talking points against Obama. But I think his judgement has been skewed, and picking Palin was a terrible decision. I think that the lack of choices for McCain was the reason he went out on a limb, and chose Palin, which is showing to be a disastrous pick. I can almost understand their thinking in the sense that Lieberman and Ridge would turnoff the base. Wasn't to sure how the Romney and the Mormon thing would work out. Tim Pawlenty and Bobby Jindal are relative unknowns, that they weren't sure how that would play out. So I'm sure their thinking was that with the pissed off Hillary voters, and a need to galvanize the base, they thought that Palin would be able to kill two birds with one stone, and her being a "reformer" and a "maverick" herself made sense. Even though she was an unknown, she was a pretty woman that no one new about, and with her conservative views, and charm, she would win over the people of America, and she would go with the whole change theme. What the McCain campaign forgot to do was their research. She's smart, but not the level you need to be for VP of the United States of America. I seriously know more about domestic and and global issues more than she does. It's obvious that they're not at all comfortable with her answering question, or any other interaction with the media, because of her lack of knowledge.
And I'm sure McCain is regretting the pick, because at best, she's has leveled out the ticket, but IMO, she has brought it down, to go along with the economic issues going on. I'm sure that this was the what his handlers were thinking, and presented a good argument to McCain at the time, to go along with pressure from the powers to be which led him to the pick. I'm sure Barack was pressured to pick Hillary, but he made the right pick with Biden, and he proves it everytime you hear him speak, and do interviews. And you can tell they have a genuine respect for each other and their families, and they're on the same page. What's good about Biden is that he the type of person that will challenge Obama in the White House. He's not going to be a yes man, or just some one there to go along with his policies, like Cheney was for Bush. Biden and Obama are a good team, and what I mean by challenging him is speaking his mind, and giving Obama a different perspective on things. Palin and McCain is just a pasted together ticket, and you can tell, and it would of felt like that if Barack picked Hillary. Plus you can tell that McCain doesn't fully trust Palin to talk, but he knows that they have to, and it's too late to make any changes. I wouldn't be surprised if something were to happen to her soon.
McCain judgment has been proven wrong again and again, and it is clearly seen from his Palin pick. The base would of been there, because you obviously see that they want anything but Obama, so McCain could of picked whoever he wanted. He should of pick Huckabee, because right there you have a base guy who is very smart and charismatic, and would of attracted people beyond the base.

Obama has this election wrapped up as long as he doesn't fuck it up.
But his expectations going into office will be so high that I wonder if people will give him a full chance before calling him a failure. He's like that 5 star prospect out of high school that's expected to be the starting quarterback at USC from day 1 and win 4 national championships. Not saying it's impossible but it's going to be hard for him to meet the expectations the public and media have set for him.
I agree, that McCain's decision making has been absolutely horrible since he won the primary. I think people pick on Palin too much but it was stupid of him to pick an absolute lightning rod of a VP candidate. Only a ridiculous announcement or pledge will save him from getting blown out.

I don't know about you guys but I'm absolutely shocked that "Joe the Plumber" turned out to be another phony McCain campaign gimmick. He's unliscenced, makes around 40k according to the latest records and owes back taxes.
