I think something has to be said about a few disasters that have happened over seas, and one, not 20 miles from me.
Monday a 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit the densley populated China province of Sichuan. Right now the death toll has reached 35,000 people, but most expect it to hit 50,000 by late today or early tomorrow. In the United States the death toll would be very much smaller, but because of how densely populated the area is, the disaster became a whole lot worse then one would expect.
Myanmar has been hit by a devastating Cyclone(tornado). The death toll here has hit 50,000 already. Again this area is very dense, so the death toll is a bit inflated, but none the less, a huge disaster that needs to be mentioned.
The southern US has been hit by floods, tornadoes, and thunderstorms for a month straight. I'm currently living in northern Mississippi, and have been virtually untouched by the storms, but areas around me in southern Arkansas and Northern Mississippi to the east of me, have been hit hard. Mississippi alone has had 100 deaths due to Tornadoes this year, already a record.
All these areas are in need of Prayer, support, volunteers, and Prayer, if you can find it in your heart just to pray for these areas, your helping so much, because God will hear your cries. If you have the calling to send money, or supplies to these areas, even better. And if you can come down to the south, or if your live in these countries, i ask that you do so, because these areas are in need of major help, and anything htey can get is much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that sending money/supplies can help more than praying but it's also more expensive.

[soapbox]Yeah - and it didn't take the "Global Warming Nuts" long to chime in, did it? Global warming is blamed for everything bad that happens these days. Too bad that much of the US has had the coolest April / May in the last 25 years. I actually heard one of "them" say that cooling trends are a result of Global Warming...huh??? Wake me up when your myth actually has some real data to support it...[/soapbox]
Sorry for hijacking your thread, the disasters are tragic and they do deserve our prayers and support. And, contrary to Jogo's assertion, I believer that prayers can help as much or more than money / supplies.

I agree with jogo. Sorry Im just too factual of a person to believe in religion really. I feel bad for the people, and if I was there or had lots of money I wouldn't mind helping at all. But I don't think praying does anything, just my opinion. Just an idea to me that people need something to believe in because the mind can't fathom evolving or needs some excuse to where we came from or our purpose here.
What if our purpose is just to live your life and thats it. Truth of the fact, nobody will really know until you actually die. Could spend your whole life worshipping god and the bible, die and thats it, and there won't be any heaven. Doesn't make sense to me to spend the life I have now worshipping something, to hopefully have a better purpose after I die, live life up as you can right now, thats how I look at it.

Its not however you brought it into the topic, and followed it up with the statement of someone doesn't believe in god, with an astonishment smiley, like they are wrong for not believing in god.

Evolution makes no sense BTW, science contradicts itself too much. Science says that living organisms can't come from nonliving matter. So evolution makes no sense, when another law contradicts it. Another thing, think about this. The giraffe if evolution is true would not be here today. They have a special neck that allows blood to flow against gravity. But, that would mean When it bends over to take a drink, blood would rush to the head causing a stroke. But the throat reverses itself, alowing the same blood flow. But wait, when it stood up, again stroke, bam, no blood. But again the throat reverses it self. If that evolved, then theres no giraffe, cuz the first giraffe has a stroke, dehyrates or has a stroke.

most of you know the Abraham and Issaac story im guessing. Here's an example of a story inside a story, and how much God loves his people when hte cry out to him. In that story, Isaac's wife had a seragate child, but the seragate mother got "an attitude" about the Wife raising the child. Isaac's wife kicked the mother out of the house into the wilderness to die with the child. The mother cried out to God asking to be saved. The boy was saved, and started the Arab race.
Now hold up, the Arab race is Israel's sworn enemy... Israel is God's "Chosen People", why would God do this, because he loves his children to come to him
