I've sprained knees and ankles before. You can finish the game if you get your joint wrapped up tight and it's not a bad one, but the following 3-4 days you can't walk. I don't know...I think it was more of his team mates rallying around him than him really being hurt.

If you want to argue that Pierce was faking his knee injury, you have to make a case when Kobe's mysterious "back injury" came and went in the Jazz series. In Game 4 especially, he was grimacing each time down the floor, one time he set up for a charge however, he got called for a blocking foul, but immediately sprung up like nothing was wrong just to argue the call. Athletes fake injuries sometimes to get their teams motivated and amped up to step up and produce. I don't think Pierce was exaggerating it, I think it was mostly panic that he heard a pop in his knee and he thought he was screwed, it wasn't the case, moving on.

LOL Last time I checked Kobe was never carried off the court and wheeled to the locker room. Players tweak their bodies here and there all the time. The last time Ive seen somebody get carried or wheeled off the court was Andrew Bynum and his knee is still jacked up months later.

thats like me dropping the ketchup bottle on my foot and immediantly calling 9-1-1. Like I said, I think it was more of his team mates rallying or like you said, a panic, than it was an injury.

Lakers coach cynical about Pierce knee injury
3 hours ago
BOSTON, Massachusetts (AFP) ā Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson adopted a cynical attitude Friday toward Paul Pierce's right knee injury and how quickly he the Boston star returned to spark a Celtics victory.
Pierce went down in the third quarter Thursday but returned minutes later to give Boston the lead for good with back-to-back 3-pointers in a 98-88 win over the Lakers in game one of the National Basketball Association Finals.
Pierce hinted he might have had heavenly help in returning so fast but Jackson was skeptical despite watching Pierce carried off the court by teammates and later pedaling a stationary bicycle moved near Boston's bench.
"Paul got carried off and was back on his feet in a minute," Jackson said. "I don't know if the angels visited him in that time-out period or what, but he didn't even limp when he came back out on the floor. I don't know what was going on back there. Was (US preacher) Oral Roberts in their locker room?
"He certainly carried some energy back on the floor for them."
The idea that Pierce - whose nickname is "The Truth" - might be faking an injury aggravated Celtics forward Kevin Garnett, who denied any notion of a "sham" in the shamrock for the irish-themed Celtics.
"It's not up to them to approve or disprove or to judge. He hurt. The man got carried off the court. I mean, that's pretty significant," Garnett said.
"I know he made it look a little easy but they weren't over there seeing him grimacing, the massage and on the bike and stuff like that. When you don't know what's going on on the other side, you just make stuff up."
Celtics coach Doc Rivers laughed off Jackson's comments, playing up any notion of a conspiracy theory by invoking the name of the assassin of former US President John Kennedy in the 1960s leader's home state.
"Whatever it takes. All I know is he came back out on the floor and played. I'm good with that," Rivers said. "I don't care. Aren't we all skeptics anyway now about everything? What the heck. Let it begin. Lee Harvey Oswald did it."
Pierce has refused to have an MRI exam until after the best-of-seven series is concluded, not wanting to miss the biggest games of his life even at the risk of doing more damage to the first knee injury of his career.
Told of Jackson's feelings, Pierce replied, "Well I don't know what to say."
NBA Most Valuable Player Kobe Bryant, whom Pierce was trying to defend when he collided with teammate Kendrick Perkins and went down, said the Lakers were unfazed by Pierce's exit and return, which ignited cheers from Celtics fans.
"Paul Pierce drama? I don't think it affected us at all," Bryant said. "He's a friend. I was happy to see him come out there until he made those two damn threes."
Lakers veteran Derek Fisher, like Bryant a three-time NBA champion, also expressed doubts about divine intervention for Pierce.
"I think He has bigger problems to worry about than who wins the NBA Finals," Fisher said. "Although at times He has proven to be quite a sports fan."

I think some people are just a bit sore because they lost. It's just one game in a long series so moving on is the best thing to do. Not sure what's the point of trying to make a big deal of it, faking or not faking. Game 2 in Sunday. Hope is as good as the 1st one.

Jackson's always been a sore loser from as far as I can remember. Its comments like that in two posts above that makes me think he's just a classless hypocritical sore loser who is a such an attention whore, its why he's in L.A.

LOL solid deflection tactics guys. The Lakers lost either way. Its not like they are whining about officials or last minute judgment calls and coming up with referee conspiracy theories. They are just poking a little fun at what was a ridiculous situation. Try not being so sensitive especially since you are not even Celtics fans.

Yeah read any article concerning Game 2 and you'll see what a classless moron Phil is. Never goes out on his team, its always the refs fault. I'm sure he'll do anything, maybe pay his way to victory in Game 3, the dude has absolutely no class to him.

You have to be a special kind of stupid to not recognize Phil Jackson's comments to the media for what they are. Great coaching. Do you think the FT disparity in Game 3 is going to be anything close to last night? In Game 2 nearly every questionable call seemed to go the Celtics way, in Game 3 don't be surprised when the roles are reversed. Phil Jackson being a classless moron after the Game 2 will help the Lakers win Game 3. You clowns might not like it but its the truth. Its one of the reasons why he is a 9 time champion and your team is preparing for the draft. I personally don't have any complaints about the refs. I do however expect the Lakers to get the benefit of the doubt on more questionable calls at home. Apparently home court advantage includes the refs this year in the playoffs.

The roles will be reversed because the NBA wants to see the series go to 7 games, and that's not likely to happen if Boston goes up 3-0. It has nothing to do with Phil's whining.
