Wow. If the get Manny like rumored, that's the trifecta with him, CC, Teixeira, and a big slap in the face to the Sox.
Damn you Spankees!

Fuck Manny, they already got the trio in Burnett, CC, and Mark. They don't need Manny at all, because he is liability in the field and they would only get him to stick it to the Sox.
They signed the best three players in this seasons FA pool IMO. Manny was just putting in the effort for contract, not because he's motivated to be the one of the best in the game. If anything the Yankees should sign JD Drew, not Manny

This is why we tried to level the play field financilly in SLOB. How fair is a competition where there is not one other team at the same financial level of the #1. If baseball results didn't seem so random in real life, no one would even care about the league.

The Yankees have always been "stacked" but for the last decade or so have nothing to show with it. I honestly am not that concerned even with the big signings, something always happens, either injuries or stupid player fights, they always end up doing way below what they should be doing. I'm still not big on their manager, didn't he get fired from the fricken Marlins a few years ago? Ouch.

Baseball has way too much young talent for people to think one team can have it in the bag. This is great for the Yankees because it shows its spending the money they earn, but it doesn't hurt the league at all. Yankees have had the highest payroll for years, and have nothing to show for it as far as titles go. But they give their fans something to look forward to each season, and that keeps them being able to build a new stadium and pay for these players. But baseball has way too much talent, to think the Yankees have it in the bag. It's not basketball where young players aren't as important as vets. Look at the MVP of the league for baseball, and Lebron James has yet to win one.

Imagine an NBA where the Lakers and Celtics have a monopoly on all elite young talent coming out of Asia and get to offer Lebron as well as several other top free agents a maximum contract next year. Thats basically the MLB right now.

This is sickening!
1. Players should not be paid that much to play a fucking sport.
2. Fuck the Yankees
3. I hope the steinbrenner's go bankrupt.
4. Those 3 players combined for one year salary will equal the total payroll for a few teams in the league, which is stupid.
5. I love baseball, but shit like this makes me hate it.

This is sickening! 1. Players should not be paid that much to play a fucking sport. Who should it go to? The owners obviously have that much money to spend. Should they just pocket it and not give any to the players?

Dear Mark Teixeira,
Congratulations, you are now more hated in Baltimore than Mike Mussina.
Yours truly, O's fans
P.S. You'll be hearing a lot of boos and "fuck yous" on Opening Day at Camden Yards.

They could lower the price of admissions and concessions and pay more to their employees. They could, which would be great - but they won't as long as fans keep coming and their staff continues to do an adequate job then the money will continue to go to the players because the players are the ones who attract the fans to the park, attract fans to watch games on TV, and bring in merchandising revenue. They could also donate the money to cancer research. But the fact is that it's a multi-billion dollar business - and it's absurd to assume that the most valuable employees won't get paid what they are worth, which in this case, is 180 million dollars.

Agreed!!!!!!!!!! I'm not a Yankees fan, but I'd rather see this then the shit the Marlins and A's do to their fans.
